Medical Reserve Corps

In August 2005, the Crawford County General Health District began recruiting RN/LPNs to support local health departments during public health emergencies. This Initiative came about as a result of needing medical volunteers to staff mass dispensing and vaccination clinics within our county should the need arise in response to a disease outbreak or a terrorist act. The goal is to have our volunteers register for our local Medical Reserve Corps (MRC). This will allow for better organization and training of the volunteers. Additionally, this will allow those volunteers who wish to expand their participation beyond supporting the local health departments to do so. Volunteers could be used to support other medical emergencies in the county as requested using MRC guidelines.
