ALL women are at risk for breast cancer. In 2011, a report estimated that about 230,480 women in the U.S. are expected to be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer and nearly 40,000 women are expected to die from the disease annually. Except for skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women today. Although breast cancer is more common in women over the age of 40, younger women can also develop breast cancer. Early detection and effective treatment for breast cancer have been shown to improve survival.
